Darwin Serink is an award-winning, Canadian/American Filmmaker who has established himself as a creative force in a variety of art forms. After achieving great success in the worlds of fashion and dance, Darwin moved into his true passion, filmmaking. He received his BFA in Film from Art Center College of Design and studied at the UCLA Professional Screenwriters Program.
His debut film ABAN + KHORSHID, inspired by a true story of two gay Iranian men who were tragically executed for being gay, has screened at over sixty film festivals worldwide and received over a dozen awards including: Cannes Emerging Filmmakers Showcase – Best LGBT Film, Cleveland International Film Festival – Best LGBT Short and Seattle International Film Festival – Special Jury Award: “A beautifully filmed and tragic story, based on real-life events, about freedoms here that carry the death penalty elsewhere.”
His most recent award winning film EL AGUACATE tackles the current immigration “crisis” that has been created by the current US administration. EL AGUACATE has screened in California and Texas and is slated to have it’s international premiere at the Edmonton International Film Festival in Canada, fall 2018.
As a director, Darwin is passionate about telling stories of underserved people whose voices deserve to be heard.
